Storyline

After the first Mortal Kombat tournament, things are crazy. Liu Kang and Kung Lao escape Shang Tsung’s falling island fortress in the Lost Sea, but they follow the sorcerer and his minions through a portal to Outworld. Raiden warns the Shaolin warriors that Shang Tsung plans to take over Earthrealm without following the rules of the tournament. They fight their way across dangerous terrain, starting with a brutal Tarkatan attack on the Wu Shi Academy that takes Sonya Blade. Along with friends like Johnny Cage and later Kitana, Jax, and Sub-Zero, they figure out who is betraying them and make uneasy alliances in the neon-lit horrors of Outworld.

As the two fight their way through the game, they face off against famous enemies like Reptile in slimy caves, the savage Baraka and his Tarkatan horde, the huge Goro and Kintaro, and sneaky assassins like Mileena and Jade. The story builds to epic battles against Ermac, Kano, and the evil Shao Kahn, with Shang Tsung stealing souls to get younger. The monks beat the emperor in a loud finale, but Quan Chi’s shadowy interference suggests that bigger threats are on the way, leaving Earth’s fate in the balance after a hard-fought victory.

Gameplay

The Multi-Direction Fighting Engine in Shaolin Monks is great because it lets you fight in all directions against groups of enemies. Players can use deadly combos that hit multiple targets at once, throw enemies into the air to juggle them, and use environmental dangers like spike pits and spinning blades to take down enemies and solve puzzles right away.
